Howard University Driving Cancer Research Innovation Across Campus and Beyond

Cancer research is most powerful when it reaches the people who carry the greatest burden of disease. That is where Howard University

has a distinct role to play.

Across its medical school, cancer center, hospital, basic science labs, public health programs, and community partnerships, Howard brings a rare mix of scientific depth and lived community knowledge. Its researchers study tumors at the molecular level. Its clinicians care for patients in Washington, DC. Its outreach teams work with neighborhoods where screening, prevention, and trial access can change lives.

In 2025, the Howard University School2Lab program was launched in partnership with Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Lear more about this eight-week intensive research experience for high school students.
